May 2020 Class Information

Hello Ballet Bitterroot families!

I hope this finds you all well! I have enjoyed continuing to dance with you in April through virtual zoom classes. It has been encouraging to all of us to stay connected and moving together through this crazy time.

In light of the governor’s recent announcement outlining the 3 phases of opening our beautiful state, we have decided to initiate social distancing, in-person classes beginning May 5th. We know that some people are still at risk and it is important for us to continue doing our part to keep our families and community healthy. To serve all of our students as best we can, each of the classes scheduled below will be available for in-person participation AND virtual Zoom participation, unless otherwise specified. The zoom codes for each class/level will remain the same as they were in the month of April.

Please note: Creative Movement and Discover have their own class times on Wednesday mornings. Creative Movement will receive a new zoom code. Discover will use the same zoom code from the month of April.

We know that social distancing and sanitation are important in keeping our students and families safe. For this reason, we will be following the guidelines below as we finish out our semester with these In-Person/Zoom classes.

  • Miss Calley will be available in the lobby during class hours to answer parent’s questions, oversee students, and sanitize between classes. However, once your student’s class has begun, we ask that you wait for your student outside of the lobby. The lobby will be “closed” to families and siblings of the dancers, per our governor’s mandate.
  • We will tape large, pink, laminated hearts to the lobby carpet spaced at least 6 feet apart. Each student is requested to enter the lobby, find a heart, and wait there for their class to begin.
  • When class begins, the students will leave all of their belongings on their laminated heart in the lobby. They may take their water bottles into class.
  • Each student must wash their hands before entering class.
  • Upon entering class, students are requested to stand at a designated, marked place at the barres, each 6 feet apart.
  • Miss Calley will disinfect all door handles, light switches, and laminated hearts in between every class.
  • The ballet instructors will wash their hands and disinfect all barres and door handles in between every class.
  • If a student or a family member of a student is showing any signs of possible illness including but not limited to a cough, fever, nausea, etc. please do not come to the studio. These students are welcome to take that class online via Zoom. Anyone exhibiting these signs of illness in class will be asked to leave the class.

Tuition will not be affected by this schedule change. All classes will be charged based on our standard tuition rates, for both the students taking in-person and the students taking via Zoom.

Conditioning and Strengthening will remain Zoom only is open to any dancers from Next Step, Transitions, Intermediate, and Advanced. You do not have to pre-sign up. This class is on a drop-in system. Just hop onto the Zoom class whenever you want to, I will take attendance and charge each student who comes. Each class is $6 per student. If you already have a punch card, each class you attend will be one punch.

Spring Performance: We at Ballet Bitterroot highly value the skills and confidence that our students gain through performing. Unfortunately, we will not be performing our 20th Anniversary Celebration on May 15-16. However, we are preparing an alternative performance strategy and we will get all of those details to you as soon as possible!

Dance Camps and Intensives are a highlight of every summer for us. We will be releasing our summer camp schedule and prices soon. We look forward to celebrating summer with in-person summer dance camps for students ages 3 and up. Stay tuned for all the details.

Thank you for all the ways you have been supporting and encouraging your students during this time. I know life looks different than we ever thought it would. However, being able to stay connected, encourage each other, and enjoy the beautiful moments is what gets us through and makes us stronger.

With gratitude,

Miss Courtney
